like a rolling stone...

Finally the Easter holidays are here! I have a glorious two weeks off Neighbours ahead of me and I intend to make the most of it in and around Melbourne. Surf competitions, comedy festivals, art exhibitions, free salsa lessons, wine tasting, and birthday parties are all on my to-do list. I just hope Melbourne's weather holds out for it all!

Smashing patterns...

Here is a laverly bright top I purchased for $2 whilst in Tennant Creek at a second hand sale. Cannot get enough of these old women shirts at the moment, my weekends are spent trawling through my local op-shops rails for the most outlandish patterns.

The pictures were taken by Jamie McVeigh at Ballina in Australia.

Tassle schmassle

A purchase from topshop…love the hassle numbers. Had to get off topshop online a few months ago, but now I've moved to Melbourne I actually can visit the real thing - yes Melbourne is the proud owner of Australia's first and only topshop. Many a pay check has been spent in there already. Would be rude not too though…us Brits have got to support our own and all!

this look is also posted. Thank you!

A breakfast to blog about...

So Saturday my amazing friend Robyn cooked breakfast for us. Instead of the expected egg on toast combo she came up with this absolutely droolicious sweetcorn cake stack. Mmmmmm. Undeniably it goes in my all-time top 5 breakfasts.

In case anyone is wanting to make this (DO DO DO!) here is the basics:

Base - sweetcorn fritters - egg, sweetcorn and flour - mixed together, shaped and then fried in a pan for a few minutes

Layer on top of that

- mushed avocado
- steamed spinach
- cooked tomato
- smoked salmon
- a perfectly poached egg

- place cooked mushroom all around the plate  (cook in butter and garlic)
- taste with basil and cashew pesto.

Too good, and a definite showstopper in case your wanting too impress! Definitely puts my chocolate porridge to shame.

Blue cardigan, Ballina skies, fixed lens.

Myself and Jamie spent 3 days in Ballina between Christmas and New Year, and spent the time sleeping, eating and recuperating after a week of partying in Byron Bay. Ballina is a sleepy seaside town which is mainly inhabited my OAP's. Perfect for a battery recharge before a week of mayhem in Sydney for New Year.
These pictures were taken when messing around with Jamie's new 50mm fixed lens, on a Nikon D7000. I love the way the lens is so sharp, yet reduces focus on the wall in the below picture.

The pictures are completely untouched and unedited...shows just how lovely the camera brings out colors!

Everybody needs good neiiiighbours!!!

So in the past week not only have I got a house, but I have also got a job. ON NEIGHBOURS NONE THE LESS! Im a production assistant/runner, which means I'm the bitch. Perks of the job : the free buffet food each day and the Nissan x trail I get. Cons of the job : getting fat off all the free food and the stress of driving around Carl Kennedy and trying not to crash. But all in all Neighbours + Emily = a very happy Emily!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

Why hello there, and big apologies for my long absence! I spent a debaucharus few weeks in Byron Bay and Sydney unapologetically celebrating Christmas and New Year again and again. My liver and bank balance have suffered but hell your only 24 once!

I'm now residing in Melbourne where I am shamelessly loving nights in Chinatowns dumpling hotspots, busking on streets, rooftop bars and all the coolness that Brunswick has to offer. I. LOVE. IT. Its like a manageable London where people aren't so rude to you and its hot enough to get a tan.

My long absence has been due to the fact that I've spent the last few weeks without a home…having only just got one within the last week. Its myself and 6 other friends (including my sister yay!) living in the Camden of Melbourne, Brunswick. Cafes, jazz bars and thrift shops line the street, highlighted by graffiti art. In the last week our house has accumulated two shopping trolleys, a fake parrot, and an open sign. We've furnished our house with the help of friends, charity shops and people off free-cycle! Many a toast has ben made to these generous souls. SO THANK YOU ALL OF YOU!
