Accountants, business cards and turning 26. The start of grown up me?

Time has flown all too fast since my last post. Apologies but any spare time I've had recently has been stolen by whiskey drinking, perusing Harrods and listening to the Beatles.

I'm still hopelessly in love with the city. The recent evening sunshine has made me fall even deeper. Why would you choose to do anything other then wander by the Thames in the warm evening, drink fizzy wine out of plastic cups and point out all the landmarks? I've become an angry tuber. Mainly because I'm always running late and I need the damn tourists to move out my way. My list of lost belongings is turning into book, and I've been mugged once again. I throw myself into things, and have thrown myself into the fast pace here. Late nights, early mornings, too much art and not enough sleep.

I took the great leap of faith to quit my job and go Freelance about two months ago. I've been lucky enough through lovely people and hard work to find enough work to keep me going, and keep me believing that I'm doing the right thing. And even more amazingly the projects and roles that I've been taking on are very exciting. Tomorrow I start freelancing two days each week at a Production Company - earning the exact same money over those two days which I made in a whole week at my last job. Financially I can now also justify to myself that I have made the right decision.

I turned 26 last week, got myself some business cards, and got myself an accountant. It all sounds terribly grown-up. I'm really not. I also watched a good friend of mine get married last month. Weddings, babies and buying houses couldn't be further from my grasp right now. I'm still trying to navigate the tube and sign up to speed-dating. Both of which are hopelessly lost causes.

I'm writing this in a cafe in Central London whilst waiting for a meeting, to open an email off a friend stating we have a few weeks to get down to supermodel proportions for an Arabian themed birthday party. Another lost cause - the cafe I'm in has the best chocolate tart I've ever eaten. Times two. My dentist is going to have a holiday on me soon.

Life's been crazy good and crazy bad recently but being in London at the start of summer is the most exciting feeling in the world. There is a festival every weekend, an exhibition everyday, and a rooftop bar on every corner. And the promise of future tattoos...

A crafty morning...

Inspired by Lana Del Rays flower crowns of the moment, and further urged on by my lack of pennies I decided to forgo the $70 shop price tags and make my own. Thanks to a $2 shop flowers, some wire and a glue gun I spent a just over an hour making my own much cheaper version. I am actually uber impressed with how good it looks and urge everyone to make their own personalized version! Here is how I did it...

1) Cut off some wire and make it fit the shape of your head

2) Wind extra wire around it so flower stems can slot in easier

3) Cut the flowers off the stems and slot through the wire - fix in place with hot glue.

And voila! A crown of flowers!

floppy hat you big dream you

I love my floppy felt hat. The fact that half the time I cant see past it only further allows me to daydream that I am in the 70's. Until of course I smack into a very grumpy passerby and I am brought back into reality. Note to self though : Auckland's decidedly strong winds do not always make this the most practical item ...

like a rolling stone...

Finally the Easter holidays are here! I have a glorious two weeks off Neighbours ahead of me and I intend to make the most of it in and around Melbourne. Surf competitions, comedy festivals, art exhibitions, free salsa lessons, wine tasting, and birthday parties are all on my to-do list. I just hope Melbourne's weather holds out for it all!

Photos are courtesy of James McVeigh and the outfit is on my lookbook page : http://lookbook.nu/look/3273423-like-a-rolling-stone

Smashing patterns...

Here is a laverly bright top I purchased for $2 whilst in Tennant Creek at a second hand sale. Cannot get enough of these old women shirts at the moment, my weekends are spent trawling through my local op-shops rails for the most outlandish patterns.

The pictures were taken by Jamie McVeigh at Ballina in Australia.

Tassle schmassle

A purchase from topshop…love the hassle numbers. Had to get off topshop online a few months ago, but now I've moved to Melbourne I actually can visit the real thing - yes Melbourne is the proud owner of Australia's first and only topshop. Many a pay check has been spent in there already. Would be rude not too though…us Brits have got to support our own and all!

If anyone would like to check out my lookbook page here :

this look is also posted. Thank you!

Tennant Times

Pictures were taken by James McVeigh and the landscapes are completely untouched.

Think one street in the middle of the desert, hours from any other town. And that's where I was living for a few months on my arrival to Australia. The sunsets were magnificent, the locals were not.

The population being only 2000 we had one foodshop and one clothes shop. Pubs were aplenty. The towns one saving grace, and escape was the beautiful Mary Ann Dam, pictures of which are above.

Tennant you were unforgettable.

All that glitters…

Shoes : Topshop, Shorts : Asos

LOVE. GLITTER. SO. MUCH.

Got these sparkly numbers through the post recently. The shoes are not exactly the most practical for Darwin's sweaty feet weather, but they are beautiful so who cares! The sequin pants are yet to be worn…I'm all for a bit of leg showing, but these show ass. And a lot of it. I don't think Channel Nine is quite ready for the ass yet, so these will have to be saved aside for the New Year Festivals instead!

Topshop has an immense amount of glittery stuff on its website at the moment…I'm rather sad to not be in the UK and have the bank balance to allow me to buy it all...

Photography is a hobby of mine, and something I'm slowly getting better at! Photographs were taken by myself on a Canon 550D on a 18-55 stock lens.

G'day to y'all from oz!

Top: American Aparal dress, Trousers: Garage sale, Boots: Liverpool market

And welcome to my blog! Its been a long time coming, but as I am uselessly computer illiterate i have been able to get my mind (and fingers) around the world of blogging! Its still a work in progress…so were see if this post even makes it on the blog!

Im writing this from Darwin - the very top tip of Australia. Its a sunny day, and I'm sitting here in 35degree heat. I don't mean to make those at home jealous, but I'm very aware that my friends back in the UK will be shivering around a fire round about this time of year! Heres a couple of pictures from the last few months in the Northern Territorys hot hot sun...
